In response to local media and community criticism, CUBE explored options for integrating the Liberty brick facade at the corner of Rigsbee and Corporation into the new commercial and multi-family housing development. Our approach was two-fold: 1) offer a very simple solution to retain the facade in-place by converting just two residential units at the corner to commercial space and allow the Liberty facade to be repurposed, and 2) To reconsider the design of the development at this location with a design that visually ties the new and old architectures together.
